印度最繁忙走廊将提速至160,印网民大谈高铁梦想

MUMBAI: The Western Railway (WR) has prepared a Rs 1,100 crore plan to reduce travel time between the city and Ahmedabad, the busiest Indian Railways corridor, by at least two hours. The WR has plans to increase the speed of some trains on the corridor to 160 kmph.

西部铁路公司(WR)准备了一个110亿卢比的计划,准备把孟买至艾哈迈达巴德这条印度最繁忙铁路走廊的旅行时间削减最少2小时。西部铁路公司计划把这条走廊的速度提高至160公里。

For this, the WR will have to undertake improvement of tracks, barricading of vulnerable locations and regulating the over head equipment (OHE), among other things.

“We have submitted initial estimates for the speed improvement project to the railway board for approval,” WR chief public relations Sharat Chandrayan said.

If the initial estimates are approved, a detailed estimate will be prepared and tenders invited.

In China, the high speed trains (not bullet trains but trains with track on concrete) run at a speed of initially 350 Kmph which take 3 hours and 15 minutes from Wuhan to Gaungzhou, a distance of 1050 Kilometers, with 2 stops. But after an accident, now the speed is reduced to 300 kmph. The problem is it requires separate tracks other than the normal ones as the high speed train tracks should have walls on both sides so that human beings or animals do not cross the track and to save the lives.

If Railway minister approves the new Japanese Railway engines based on Maglev as the standard for India’s High Speed Railway network, then North Indians can go to the home in backend and come back to the office on Monday morning. But whether Modi and Railway minister approve 500 km/h trains as Standard for High Speed Railway in India.

In China the lowest speed band is 160 km to 220 km per hour. Semi high speed band is above 250 km per hour and highest speed band is 350 to 450 km/hour.

India needs faster trains, no doubt, but safer ones are better for the time being. To cut travel time, the only option is to have double tracks everywhere so that the passengers need not wait for crossings.
