42 hurt during high school militarytraining in south central China
Afight between students and military trainers at a high school in south centralChina's Hunan Province on Sunday left 42 people injured, according to the localgovernment and mainland news reports Monday.
Amongthe injured are 40 students, a trainer and a teacher of Huang Cang High Schoolin Longshan County, a government statement posted on its official news websitesaid.
Thebrawl happened Sunday evening and 27 people remain in hospital.
Thecause of the fight is being investigated, it said.
Accordingto The Paper, an online news portal, the head teacher of a class of studentswas beaten by the trainers for interfering in what was said to be physicaltraining too tough for the students to handle.
Morestudents and trainers subsequently joined the fight.
Theteacher suffered the most serious injuries, the report quoted unnamed sourcesas saying.
Thetraining session was organized by the Longshan People's Armed Forces, adepartment under the military responsible for troop recruitment and militiatraining.
