When the Adani Group wanted to instal power gear for a 4,620-MW plant in Mundra, Gujarat, it opted for an assortment of Chinese vendors — Shandong Electric, Harbin Electric, Dongfang Electric and Beijing Beizhong. Domestic players, it seems, didn’t stand a chance. According to company executives, Chinese products were half the price of those proffered by local makers such as state-run Bhel and they also had much larger manufacturing capacity to boot.
Bhel has been under fire from aggressive Chinese firms queueing up to compete for power plant deals even if they face trade barriers like import duties.
Government officials have also recently claimed that Chinese gear is less efficient than Indian products — but companies in a rush to set up plants and on a tight budget may not be willing to listen.
A New Weave
Imported Chinese weaving machines are 30-50% cheaper than their domestic rivals and more readily available, making them a favourite with textile companies across the country.
The value of imported Chinese gear increased from Rs 1,636 crore in 2006-07 to Rs 4,300 crore in 2012-13, according to estimates from Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association. S Chakroborty, president of the association, says a few smaller players have buckled and gone under in India, even as others try to retool themselves to produce higher quality products. “There is little room for manoeuvre since input costs for components such as iron are higher for Indian companies,” he says.

Govt has to set up import percentage for any project to save the Indian company. Indian companies are providing job to local people and taking part in various social work such as constructing toilets

Chinese makes are cost effective & are available more easily but on most of the occasions quality is a little dubious.
Adani will always import from China as he has established an office in China and all the purchase are doen through this office. Also he gets cuts in the purchase and remit the amount to increase his shareholding in the company.
why cant they buy Indian products

We should not buy products made by inhuman methods in China
If China pressing small countries that is understandable. India should not a country for getting pressure from Chinese. Suitable pressure needed to be given to Chinese by joining with different countries.
China doesn’t have union protection. People have to work hard. Even prisoners are made to work mostly abroad construction / mining projects for dead cheap labour. Unless India bans union, make 70 hour work per week mandatory, relate pay to performance, India will continue to be junk, time-pass, entertainment drowned nation

Chinese products should not be used in core industries
Chinese manufacturer has no magic, then how come they have better costs. It is better execution and discipline which is making this happen. Can India wake up and correct if it Ned’s to be counted.

plz don’t compare India with China. OK I am accepting your argument regarding the time took for a query to respond. If U visit the labour camps in China you came to know that what is the reality. Labours are living in the yards, which are used for animal rearing. They exploit their population. That’s why they are able to supply the goods at cheaper rate.

China has lot of unused capacity in its factory. They are trying to dump the goods in other country very eagerly. If you ask them they give reply very fast.
