Shanxi Museum is a large-scale modern museum complex. It consists of one main building and a floor area of 51000 square meters. The main building is shaped like the combination of a Dou (a kind of measuring implement in ancient China) and Ding (an ancient cooking vessel with two loop handles and three or four legs), a symbol of bumper harvest and auspiciousness. The complex, vigorous and grand in design and style, makes one of the important marked public cultural constructions of the city of Taiyuan.
